Recently, Google added a few exciting new features to its Gemini-powered Google Search. The goal of these changes is to help everyone find information more quickly and easily.
The new name for Google’s list of search results is “AI Overview.” You don’t have to look through pages and pages of links to find the best information. It’s already at the top of the page. A small group of people used to be able to use this tool, but now everyone in the US can. Soon, more countries will be able to do so too.
You can also change the overview to see an answer that is easier to understand if you’re having trouble or one that is harder to understand if you need more information. You won’t have to carefully type in each question one at a time like you did with the old Search; Google’s new “multi-step reasoning capabilities” let you type in multiple requests at once.

Now you can plan your trips or meals right from the search results page, with information about each day or shopping list items. Everything is easy to change, so you don’t have to start from scratch to make changes to your plans.
The new results page uses AI to generate ideas that are specific to your search. You won’t just see links; instead, you’ll see catchy headlines that divide the content into parts that are relevant to you. This means that if you want to find a romantic place to eat, you might see areas like “Romantic steakhouses” or “Rooftop patios for dates.”
And this is a big deal: you can now search Google with live video. You don’t have to type in the right question to use Google Lens. Just take a video of what you need help with, like an ice machine that won’t work, and Google will give you answers as if you had typed the question yourself. And since you can use AI Overview to quickly check the answer, it’s like having your helper right there.
