Meta announced on Monday that individuals residing in the European Union (EU), European Economic Areas (EEA), and Switzerland will have the autonomy to determine how they wish to exchange information across Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. This includes permitting those individuals to maintain separate accounts so that no information is ever shared.
Users will be presented with the option to either integrate their Facebook and Messenger accounts or maintain complete separation between the two, allowing each account to operate independently. The announcement, however, implies that if you wish to use Messenger independently, you will be required to establish a new account.
“People who use Facebook Messenger can choose whether they would like to continue using Facebook Messenger with their Facebook account or whether they would prefer to create a new, separate Messenger account.”
Additionally, it may be possible to distinguish your Facebook Marketplace account from your personal Facebook information. The announcement states that if you select this option, “you will continue to have the ability to peruse listings and buy and sell items; however, the primary distinction is that buyer-seller correspondence will be conducted via email rather than Facebook Messenger.”
If you choose to keep your Facebook gaming account separate from your primary Facebook account, your gaming experience will suffer. You can play multiplayer games so long as the two remain connected; however, if you disconnect them, your gaming experience will be restricted to single-player games only.
Meta introduced the option to subscribe to premium versions of Facebook and Instagram devoid of advertisements as a component of this initiative, but only in the nations affected by the DMA.
