What to Know
|
The status of Spider-Man 4 is still unknown, but the end of a recent miniseries has set up the right villain for it in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU keeps growing in both movies and TV shows. Now that the Disney+ TV shows are linked to the movies, they’ve been used to set up recurring characters and plots for the biggest heroes in this world. After the chaos in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man 4 is one of the most interesting projects coming up in the MCU.
Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) completely alone after the final spell closed the multiverse’s gates. No one knows him. This opens up a lot of different plots for Spider-Man 4, and it’s Marvel’s best chance to bring Spider-Man back to his roots and make him a hero on the streets. Now that Echo is over, many more bad guys can join the MCU and go up against Spider-Man. Kingpin has been rumored to be the next big Spider-Man villain, and this is looking more possible now.
The ending of Echo makes it more likely that Kingpin will show up in Spider-Man 4.
In Daredevil on Netflix, Vincent D’Onofrio made his Marvel TV show debut as Kingpin. However, it’s still not clear if this show and the others on Netflix are part of the MCU universe. On the other hand, D’Onofrio’s Kingpin is now part of the MCU thanks to his surprise showing in Hawkeye and his bigger part in the miniseries Echo. Kingpin is a crime boss in New York. He is also Maya’s foster uncle and the person who killed her father. At the end of Echo, Kingpin seems to be a different person after Maya uses the power of her ancestors to heal him of his pain and anger. This caused Kingpin to have a series of flashbacks that showed his painful past.
At the end of Echo, Kingpin was seen on his private jet, watching two political experts talk about the race for mayor of New York City. Reporters say that New Yorkers want “a fighter” and a “bare-knuckle brawler” as mayor to solve the city’s problems. When one of the reporters asks if that candidate is “even out there,” Kingpin moves forward in his chair to show that he wants to run for mayor. This is a hint that the MCU will adapt a Marvel Comics plot in which Kingpin runs for mayor of New York City and wins. He then uses his new power to go after vigilantes, making him the perfect bad guy for Spider-Man 4.
Why Kingpin Is The Perfect Villain For Spider-Man 4
Kingpin is a bad guy from the streets, which is exactly what Spider-Man needs for his next movie, so some people think he could be the best villain for Spider-Man 4. The MCU skipped Spider-Man’s time as a small-scale hero and put him right into big fights with different bad guys. But if Spider-Man 4 goes back to the character’s roots, Kingpin will be the perfect villain. He will help Spider-Man get back in touch with his neighborhood and give him a strong, small-scale villain. After Echo’s ending, Kingpin is an even better bad guy for Spider-Man 4. The idea of him as the mayor hunting criminals, which would obviously include Spider-Man, fits perfectly with how things are going in the MCU right now.
