What to know You can now get (almost) all of your sports scores and numbers on your iPhone with a single tap. |
A sports app that tells you the latest scores and stats and lets you watch games on your favorite services? Is it possible at all? It could be with Apple.
On Wednesday, Apple launched its new Apple Sports app. You can download it for free in the App Store. It keeps track of sports scores, stats, future games, and more. Of course, there is one loophole: the app still needs to show every sports league.
With the Apple Sports App, you can make your own scoreboard and quickly see the latest scores for your favorite team, even in real time if a game is going on. You can also get box scores, betting odds, and play-by-play updates, and you can also change it to focus on the events and teams that are your favorites.
The leagues that are available in the app are:
- MLS
- NBA
- NCAA basketball (men’s and women’s)
- NHL
- Bundesliga
- LaLiga
- Liga MX
- Ligue 1
- Premier League
- Serie A
It’s not yet possible to watch MLB, NFL, NCAAF, NWSL, or WNBA games, but Apple says they “will become available on Apple Sports over time.”
According to Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services, the company made Apple Sports give sports fans what they want: an app that lets them get scores and numbers very quickly. “Apple Sports is available for free in the App Store and makes it easy for users to stay up-to-date with their favorite teams and leagues.”
To make things even better, you can link the Apple Sports App to your Apple TV and other streaming services. Then, you can tap within the app to go straight to the live game. You can also connect the app to Apple News and My Sports Experience on your iPhone.
You can download the app from the App Store right now and use it on devices running iOS 17 or later. You can get it in English, French, and Spanish in the US, UK, and Canada. It doesn’t look like you need to make any in-app purchases right now.
